A scroll has one charge, but can affect several characters. A scroll (like a potion) can have three spells which are cast in sequence. To use a scroll, RECITE it. If the spell can be cast on another character or on an object, RECITE <scroll> <target>, like "recite identify sword". You must be adept with the "read magic" skill to recite scrolls.
